A little help.

Make yourself
at home.

Make a little room for Duo.

Download and open the DMG, then drag Duo onto the Applications folder beside it. Open Duo from Applications, not from the disk image. You can then eject the Duo Preview disk.

Start with a preview.

Open Duo, pick a scene, and move the angle slider. This works without capturing your desktop. To use live desktop effects, activate your license in License, then enable effects in General and follow the macOS permission prompt.

Permission enabled, but not recognized?

Use preview 0.2.1 (build 6) or later. Quit Duo before replacing the app in Applications, then open that installed copy. General → Screen Recording → Check again asks macOS to verify display access. If macOS still refuses, quit and reopen Duo. If necessary, turn Duo’s permission off and on in Screen & System Audio Recording, then quit and reopen again. Ad-hoc signed builds can require fresh permission after updates even when an old entry is still enabled. Don’t change permissions for unrelated apps or disable system protections.

Paste and check your key.

In License, use Paste or ⌘V. Show reveals the key you entered; Hide masks it again. Duo hides it when you switch apps and clears the entry when you leave License or activation succeeds. Copy just the complete key from Polar, not the whole email. The saved activation stays in Keychain; do not deactivate a working license just to view its key—use the Polar customer portal.

Will it work on my Mac?

The development build requires Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later. Physical lid response requires a compatible MacBook lid-angle sensor and the built-in display. Sensor support varies by model and macOS version. If your sensor is unavailable, the preview still works.

Need a pause?

Use General → Enable desktop effects to turn it off. Press Escape during a visible effect to pause immediately. Duo also pauses when your Mac sleeps or the display configuration changes.

Desktop looks folded while your lid is open?

Quit any older iamduo or second Duo build. Two overlays can interfere with one another. Open your MacBook to your normal working position, then choose General → Use this lid position as open. Enable effects again. This build blocks conflicting Duo versions and adds a small quiet zone at your open position.

Activate or move your license.

After purchase, open your Polar confirmation email and customer portal to get your Duo key. In Duo, open License and activate this Mac. A key supports two Macs. Choose Deactivate this Mac before moving a slot, or manage activations in the customer portal. Online validation is required initially, with up to seven days offline after a successful check.

About this early build.

The app is ad-hoc signed; the DMG is unsigned and neither is notarized by Apple. macOS may block opening the preview. Only proceed if you trust the source and have verified the download; consult Apple’s guidance on opening downloaded apps. The app-specific Open Anyway option is in Privacy & Security, not Developer Tools. Do not disable Gatekeeper or other system protections.

Need a hand with your order?

Email billing@igotduo.com for billing, delivery, or refund requests. Include your order number and the email used at checkout, but never send your full license key or card details. If your confirmation is delayed, check spam and the customer portal before purchasing again. Download and activation instructions are always available.

Moving on or reinstalling?

To free a license slot, choose License → Deactivate this Mac while online. Quit Duo from the menu bar before moving it from Applications to the Trash. Deleting the app alone does not release a license activation or erase the saved Keychain receipt.
